Frequently Asked Questions

How much will an investigation cost me?

There is absolutely no cost to our clients. We only want to bring you the comfort and answers you seek. Based on that premise, our members have agreed to volunteer their time for you.

Where are you located?

We have members spread across the southeastern United States. We primarily investigate cases in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.

How can you claim to have experience in the Paranormal when your Web site clearly states that you were founded in 2009?

All of our members previously belonged to other paranormal groups. The idea behind Modern Age Paranormal was to recruit the best of the best. Modern Age Paranormal is relatively new, but our investigators are all highly experienced.

Are your investigations like those paranormal television shows?

No. While some of the paranormal television shows are more credible than others, there are some fundamental differences between us and the groups that you see on television. Some of the key differences are:

·         We do not use occult rituals, psychics, or mediums.

·         We do not attempt to provoke spirits. Provoking is not only disrespectful, it is also dangerous.

·         We take the time to work with our clients both before and after an investigation to help provide them with the answers that they seek. We don’t disappear after the reveal.

·         We respect our client’s property. We do not use any techniques that cause physical damage to a location.

Do you have a demonologist on staff?

One of the most disturbing trends in the paranormal community is that almost every ghost hunting group seems to have its own demonologist.  The vast majority of these demonologists are frauds. A true demonologist is bestowed the title of Religious Demonologist by the Catholic church. All other demonologists are self professed.

Needless to say, we do not have a Religious Demonologist on staff, as this is not a title that the Catholic church hands out lightly. We do however, have several members who have extensive experience in working with demonic cases. We are also affiliated with the Paranormal Clergy and therefore have access to Catholic priests who specialize in demonology and the paranormal.

We do not discriminate against potential clients based of their religious faith or lack thereof. Our comittment is to help as many people as we can, regardless of their religious beliefs.

I'm still pretty much a skeptic but my family/friends say I have activity. Is there anything you can say to change my mind?

Actually, we are all skeptics at one level or another; that's what makes us stand out. We do believe in paranormal activity and we have all experienced some form of it over our years of research. That does not mean we believe that all unexplained events are paranormal. If you, for any reason, feel uncomfortable with us investigating your activity then I would not recommend having an investigation. However, if you are looking for answers, please feel free to contact us for advice and to schedule an interview. During the interview we will discuss your reservations and concerns and map out a plan of action at that time.

What qualifies you to investigate my haunting?

Every member of our team has been handpicked for their skills, experience, and contributions to the field of paranormal study. Our team members are all professionals who have come from diverse backgrounds, bringing with them expertise in disciplines such as science, technology, engineering, and history.

Will you respect my privacy?

We completely understand the stigma associated with paranormal activity. Whether we are investigating a home or a business, we completely respect the privacy of our clients. We do not post anything related to our investigations in public areas of our Web site, nor do we disclose the locations that we investigate. Furthermore, you can rest assured that we will be as discreet as possible when investigating your case.

As you look at our Web site, you will notice that we do not even publish information about individual team members. We will protect your privacy in the same way that we protect the privacy of our own members.

What can I expect if I request an investigation?

When you request an investigation, our case manager will contact you to set up an in person interview.  During this recorded interview, you will get to meet two of our team members. We will discuss your situation with you and look for any factors that may be contributing to the haunting. We will also take the time to answer any questions that you might have about the investigation, or about hauntings in general.

During the interview, we will photograph the area that is to be investigated. This helps us to better plan the logistics of the investigation.

What is an investigation like?

We typically perform investigations at night. We find that most areas are quieter at night, and this helps us to produce better quality recordings. Our investigations typically last between four and eight hours depending on the size of the property that is being investigated and on a number of other factors. Depending on the nature of the case we will sometimes ask the client to assist us in the investigation, but this is certainly not a requirement.

During an investigation, we typically record dozens of hours of audio and video. It usually takes a couple of weeks for us to review all of the footage. Once we have finished going over the evidence, we will schedule a time to meet with you so that we can show you any evidence that was captured. We will also provide you with any recommendations that we have for dealing with the haunting.

Will you cancel my investigation due to bad weather?

As a general rule, no. We are all a custom to working in the rain and in extreme temperatures (even during outdoor investigations). In many cases we have found that rain and thunderstorms actually help us to get better results. We will only cancel an investigation due to weather if the conditions make it unsafe for us to travel to the investigation site, or if for some reason the conditions make investigating impractical.
